Le Forem: 144 Occupations in Shortage in 2026

RecommendationVerified

Le Forem publishes a list of 144 occupations in shortage for 2026 with a renewed method and nomenclature. Use it to prepare sourcing and training needed for recruitment.

The communique of July 1, 2026 explains the use of the Labor Needs survey and a global severity index. The new approach replaces the former binary distinction between occupations in shortage and critical functions; direct comparisons with 2025 therefore require caution.

Among the occupations presenting the strongest recruitment difficulties are roofer, healthcare assistant, mason and nurse. The communique notes 38 occupations in construction and 19 respectively in the technology industry and in healthcare and social action.

Consult the link to occupations and training to adapt the profile sought and consider training before hiring. This publication describes the labor market; for admission of a third-country national, use the separate regulatory list published by SPW.
