Physiotherapist: Approval and Visa
The physiotherapist must have community approval and a federal visa. Verify both before entrusting care to them.
The competent Community issues approval of the basic diploma. The Public Health SPF then automatically issues the visa, sent by email and eBox and available on the visa portal after approval.
The page of September 14, 2026 mentions university training in physiotherapy or full-time non-university higher education training of at least four years. For foreign diplomas, the SPF refers to the specific recognition procedure.
Separate approvals exist for specialized qualifications. If the offer requires recognized specialization, verify the corresponding approval with the Community, in addition to basic authorizations. The INAMI number follows a separate procedure related to reimbursement.
