Specialized Nurse: Title Approval
A particular professional title or a particular professional qualification requires approval. Experience in a department alone is not sufficient to use the title.
The SPF distinguishes particular professional titles, notably in intensive and emergency care, oncology or geriatrics, from particular professional qualifications. The criteria result from the Royal Decree of September 27, 2006 and ministerial decrees specific to each specialty.
The Communities issue approvals. If the position requires a particular professional title or particular professional qualification, request the approval decision corresponding precisely to this requirement.
On its page of September 16, 2026, the SPF indicates for the maintenance of these specializations and qualifications continuing education of 60 hours per four-year period and at least 1,500 hours of services over the last four years. Verify the supporting documents and the decree specific to the requested title.
