IFIC: Students and Educators in the Federal Private Sector

RecommendationVerified

Salaried students are subject to IFIC in affected establishments. For certain educator or nurse positions, the diploma level influences the pay scale.

The FAQ requires assigning students under employment contracts a reference function, or a missing function with category determined by the employer. Their pay scale is determined according to the same procedures as that of other workers. For new hires after implementation, the IFIC pay scale must be explicitly stated in the written contract.

The distinction between bachelor's and non-bachelor's concerns the functions of nurse or educator in category 14 in the nursing-care department. The worker remunerated according to IFIC who provides proof of successfully completing the bachelor's is entitled to the 14 pay scale. Do not transpose this rule to every educator function.

The FAQ refers to the Collective Agreement of March 31, 2021; the date retained corresponds to the full implementation of the model, July 1, 2021. Amounts must be sought in the indexed grid in force.
