Cleaning products: risks and training
The employer must analyze product exposure before assigning staff. Provide instructions and protections appropriate to products actually used at the client site.
Articles VI.1-6 to VI.1-10 of the Code require chemical risk analysis. It must consider hazardous properties, supplier information, exposure routes and duration as well as working conditions. Include the position's cleaning and disinfection products.
Articles VI.1-15 and VI.1-16 prioritize elimination or replacement of the dangerous product, then technical and collective measures. Personal protective equipment is used when other means are insufficient.
Article VI.1-27 requires information and training, with access to safety data sheets. Article VI.1-28 addresses product identification in containers. Organize this onboarding before product use; the cited consolidation mentions an amendment published June 10, 2024.
