Students: verify authorized cleaning tasks
Student status does not automatically authorize dangerous tasks. Examine products, machinery and fall risks before proposing the position.
Risk analysis specific to young workers must precede work, be renewed annually and upon any position change. Plan the necessary onboarding, information and support, accounting for lack of experience.
Articles X.3-8 and X.3-11 of the Code frame dangerous work. For a student, the derogation notably requires at least 18 years of age, studies corresponding to the activities, effective preventive measures and the presence of an experienced worker. Prior advice from the prevention adviser and committee is also required.
Do not assign dangerous cleaning to a student based solely on reaching legal age. The date retained corresponds to the latest amendment mentioned by the Code title linked to this guidance, published June 10, 2024.
