Machines: instructions and specific training
Before assigning an operator or technician, check the position's risks, required instructions and authorizations. Prior experience does not exempt the employer from these obligations.
Book IV, Title 2, of the Code requires equipment appropriate for the work and risks. Article IV.2-3 reserves use presenting specific risk to workers assigned to that use; those involved in repair, modification, maintenance or upkeep must be specifically authorized.
Article IV.2-4 requires appropriate specific training for these workers. Article IV.2-5 requires understandable information covering normal use, foreseeable abnormal situations and lessons learned from experience, as well as written instructions for machinery and mechanized tools. Plan this preparation in position onboarding.
