Warehouse: check Sunday work authorization

RecommendationVerified

Sunday work requires an applicable derogation for the activity. Mere candidate agreement or mentioning 'Sunday work' in the job posting is not sufficient.

Article 11 of the law of March 16, 1971 generally prohibits work on Sunday from 0 to 24 hours. The employment service lists derogations notably for land transport companies and certain loading or unloading in ports, docks and stations. Check the legal basis specific to the warehouse rather than automatically extending a transport exception to all storage activity.

In principle, Sunday work opens compensatory rest within the following six days. According to article 16, more than four hours of work entitles to a full day; up to four hours, a half-day, before or after 1 p.m., with a maximum of five hours of work that day.

The documentary date corresponds to publication of the base law on March 30, 1971. For the job posting, confirm the current regime and any sector bonuses.
