Public job postings, internal postings, and interviews
A public job posting by a private company is not automatically subject to Dutch. The official FAQ distinguishes public postings from internal documents and interviews.
The Flemish authority explicitly allows a commercial company to publish a job posting in another language in a newspaper. Therefore, the Language Decree should not be transformed into a general prohibition of public announcements in French or English.
A posting circulated internally to workers is a document intended for personnel and must respect the legally prescribed language. For a private company in a linguistically homogeneous municipality in Flanders, the interview is conducted in Dutch; another language can be used to test the candidate's language skills.
Public service job postings follow legislation on administrative languages. Verify the nature of the employer, the office concerned, and the public or internal nature of the distribution before choosing the language.
