Disability: wage subsidy and individual support

Legal obligationVerified

Individueel maatwerk supports employment of persons whose support needs are recognized by VDAB. Territorial conditions differ between the wage subsidy and support subsidy.

The decree of January 14, 2022, applicable for these provisions since July 1, 2023, targets notably persons residing in the Flemish Region, as well as those residing in another EU or EEA state and working in Flanders. Verify VDAB's indication before calculating aid.

Articles 15 and 20 distinguish the wage subsidy, which can notably cover employment on Belgian territory, from the support subsidy, reserved for an establishment in the Flemish Region. A filter based only on the Flemish workplace would therefore exclude certain wage subsidy beneficiaries.

Articles 12 and 16 provide, for workers with disabilities, a maximum duration of five years renewable after evaluation and a subsidy between 20% and 75% of the capped reference wage. For extremely vulnerable workers, the maximum duration is 24 months and the range 20% to 50%. The actual amount depends on the individual decision.
