Practical tests and interview questions

RecommendationVerified

The SPF Employment reminds of the limits of hiring tests and personal questions. The test must only assess competencies needed for the position.

The SPF clarifies that a selection test does not by itself create a contract and should not be paid. However, its duration cannot exceed what is necessary to assess competency. This rule does not allow ordinary work to be performed under the guise of selection.

The costs of tests ordered by the employer are borne by the employer. Travel remains in principle the candidate's responsibility, but the procedure must limit it as much as possible.

Questions about private life must relate to the nature and conditions of the position. Pregnancy does not normally come up in the interview; legally dangerous situations for the mother or child require specific treatment respecting equality.
