Request the correct criminal record extract
The SPF Justice describes the procedure for authorized employers. The request must match the activity and rest on applicable regulation.
The recruiter completes the form intended for the candidate and indicates the appropriate extract type. It distinguishes regulated activities and those falling under education, psycho-medical-social guidance, youth assistance, child protection, or supervision of minors, covered under Article 596, paragraph 2, of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The candidate then presents the form to his/her municipality, or to the Central Criminal Record when he/she has no domicile or residence in Belgium. The administration dates and signs the form and delivers the extract to the candidate.
The requested document contains only information relevant to the activity concerned. This procedure does not give all employers general authorization to check the background of every candidate. Communication published June 28, 2017.
