Dismissal: notice period by seniority in 2026

RecommendationVerified

Choose the notice table according to contract start date and seniority. Two changes apply to new contracts in 2026.

For contracts starting from August 1, 2026, the notice period is one week before six months' seniority, six weeks from six to less than nine months, then seven weeks from nine to less than twelve months. The table is the same for manual workers and employees.

For contracts started since January 1, 2014 but before August 1, 2026, initial tranches remain different: one week before three months, three weeks from three to less than four months, four weeks from four to less than five months and five weeks from five to less than six months.

For contracts starting from June 1, 2026, the notice period is capped at 52 weeks from seventeen years' seniority. This cap does not concern earlier contracts. Contracts started before 2014 require distinct transitional rules.
