Indexation: limitation above 4,000 € in 2026
Check sector indexation mechanism and new moderation before calculating a salary increase. The 'index cents' applies from June 1, 2026.
The May 30, 2026 law-program, title 3, chapter 1, limits indexation of the portion of reference salary exceeding 4,000 € gross to application of 2% moderation. Up to and including 4,000 €, indexation remains full. The concrete date depends on the applicable indexation mechanism.
The threshold concerns fixed base monthly gross salary, scale or contractual, reduced to full-time. Overtime, meal vouchers, performance or year-end bonuses, eco-vouchers, profit-sharing bonuses and night or weekend increases are excluded.
Parties cannot waive this limitation by particular agreement. To prepare the offer and budget, identify the indexation collective agreement and have salary verification done by payroll. The source announces a second application from January 1, 2028, a date still subject to postponement.
