Belgium: information to provide when employment starts

RecommendationVerified

The FPS Employment explains Belgium’s transposition of Directive 2019/1152 through the law of 7 octobre 2022. Prepare individual information for the first day of work.

Provide, among other things, the parties, workplace, role, start date, end date or duration of a fixed-term contract, pay components and schedule information. Collective details, including applicable collective agreements and the competent joint body, are generally set out in the work regulations.

The contract or a separate document may be used. Electronic delivery requires a document that can be accessed, saved and printed, and proof of sending or receipt must be retained. Individual information must reach the worker no later than the first day. Communicate changes no later than when they take effect, except for simple changes to the texts referenced. The law was published on 31 octobre 2022.
