Transparent and predictable working conditions
Directive 2019/1152 requires written employment information and guarantees of predictability. Its minimum requirements must be read alongside the Belgian transposition rules.
Articles 3 to 5 require, among other things, the identity of the parties, the role, workplace, start date, duration where applicable, pay and working hours. The European baseline requires the main information to be provided by the seventh calendar day and the rest within a month. Electronic formats must allow access, saving and printing, with proof of transmission or receipt.
Articles 9, 10 and 13 regulate restrictions on holding multiple jobs, assignments with unpredictable schedules and free mandatory training. For recruitment in Belgium, apply national deadlines, including individual information from the first day, as described in the entry eu-information-embauche-belgique. The European cap on probationary periods does not authorise the inclusion of a probation clause in Belgium.
