Equipment and cranes: verify operating training

Legal obligationVerified

Request training proof corresponding to the equipment actually used. A general VCA certificate does not alone demonstrate operating competence.

Article IV.3-7, 1° of the Code reserves operation of self-propelled mobile equipment to workers who have received appropriate training for safe operation. The employer also organizes circulation and pedestrian protection in the work area.

For a crane operator, specify the crane type and examine professional training, the corresponding certificate or credential. The Prevention and Temporary Work guide describes these trainings, notably from centers recognized by Constructiv, and medical fitness related to the safety position: https://www.fichepostedetravail.be/sites/default/files/2024-10/fiche_grutier_et_conducteur_d_engins_de_levage.pdf.

Lifting equipment also falls under Book IV, Title 4. Distinguish proof of operator competence, site-specific instructions, and equipment checks. The consolidated version of the Code used is dated June 13, 2026.
